Katie & Chase | Elegant Minneapolis Wedding | Calhoun Beach Club

Katie & Chase had a wonderful wedding day on 6/3/2017! The wedding was at the lovely Calhoun Beach Club in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

June in Minneapolis showed off for Katie & Chase. Soft lake breezes rolled in off Bde Maka Ska, the cottonwood fluff drifted through the air, and the Calhoun Beach Club was buzzing long before vows were spoken. This is one of those wedding days that felt easy – joyful, elegant, and completely “them.”

Katie spent the morning in a sun-splashed suite with her bridesmaids and mom. Coffee cups, curling irons, happy chaos. When her dress went on, the room got quiet in that way it does when everyone realizes, “It’s happening.” She slipped on her grandmother’s bracelet, took a deep breath, and laughed through a few tears.

A floor away, Chase and the guys worked on pocket squares and timing. Someone queued up an old college playlist; someone else reread Katie’s note aloud; everybody cheered. He kept looking out the window toward the lake, grinning.

Their first look happened on the terrace tucked behind the club. Katie tapped his shoulder, Chase turned, and the world narrowed to two people trying not to cry (and not quite succeeding). From there we wandered the grounds – white columns, leafy paths, lake light bouncing everywhere – and let them just be together before guests arrived.

The indoor ceremony space at the Calhoun Beach Club glowed. Natural light poured across polished floors; floral greens framed the aisle. As Katie came down the aisle with her dad, Chase mouthed “wow.” Their vows mixed humor (“team sunscreen forever”) with tender promises about family, faith, and showing up in the everyday. When they were announced married, the applause felt like a wave.

Cocktail hour spilled toward the windows with lake views and Minneapolis skyline peeking through. We stole the newlyweds for a quick sunset walk by the water – wind in the veil, boats drifting past, the first moments they could say “husband” and “wife” out loud without rehearsal. Those frames glow.

Inside, the ballroom was classic Calhoun Beach Club: chandeliers, creamy walls, tabletops lit by candles and soft florals. Toasts were outstanding – siblings with great timing, parents who somehow balanced proud + hilarious, friends who told the origin story involving a rain-out baseball game and a dare. Katie and Chase’s first dance was smooth and sweet; halfway through they invited everyone to join, and the floor stayed full all night.

This film is about more than pretty details (though there were plenty). It’s about two generous people whose joy pulled everyone in. Editing their wedding reminded us why we love telling Minneapolis wedding stories: family, community, lake light, laughter.

Planning your own Calhoun Beach Club or Minneapolis lake wedding? A few things we loved (and photographed/filmed heavily): the natural window light for portraits, flexible indoor ceremony setup (perfect backup when Minnesota weather does its thing), quick access to lakeside golden-hour shots at Bde Maka Ska, and ballroom space that transitions seamlessly from dinner to dancing. Whether you’re working with a Minneapolis wedding videographer, photographer, or both, build 15 minutes into the timeline at sunset. Trust us: that glow on the water is worth it. The Calhoun Beach Club also accommodates elegant indoor cocktail hours while we sneak you out for couple portraits — efficiency + gorgeous footage. Absolutely unforgettable.
